Town of Pine Mountain, Wastewater Treatment Facility Improvement

Pine Mountain, Georgia 2001

Town of Pine Mountain Wastewater Treatment Facility

The existing wastewater treatment facility needed expansion to handle the town's increased volume of wastewater. Precision Planning's design required the construction of a pretreatment basin to provide additional treatment and storage capacity. The pretreatment basin was one portion of the plant expansion at the existing site.

Precision Planning's specifications called for the installation of an 8 oz. nonwoven geotextile layer over the native soil subgrade and a 40 mil HDPE geomembrane liner over the geotextile. The installation of a geomembrane liner in the pretreatment basin prevents soil and ground water contamination by the wastewater.

Environmental Fabrics, Inc. of Gaston, SC was selected to supply and install the 8 oz. nonwoven geotextile and 40 mil HDPE geomembrane. The installation commenced in late July 2001 and was completed in less than one week. The basin was placed in operation and has performed as specified.
