The permeable floating cover system is fabricated using 3R Foam (US Patent 6,558,548) and rests on the surface of the water. It allows rainwater to pass through it, which eliminates the cost and maintenance of collecting and pumping rainwater. Gas passes through the cover while biologically scrubbing odorous constituents. Its permeability inherently eliminates the need for a gas collection system.
Additional benefits include insulating properties and the blockage of sunlight. This minimizes diurnal temperature changes and retains heat in the pond. Reduction in sunlight (>98%) eliminates algae growth.
Components such as hatches and sample ports can easily be installed at any location. Sample ports and hatches are safely accessible by using walkways on the surface of the cover.
