Landfill Covers [Caps]

When a landfill is filled to capacity, geosynthetic covers are installed to keep out rainwater and contain odors. The accumulation and treatment of leachate can be dramatically reduced when the rainwater is excluded. The covers traps and eliminates methane (a major greenhouse gas contributor) via combustion in a flare or in a generator to produce electricity for use at the facility. Definite cost savings can be attributed to this reduction of leachate treatment and the generation of renewable energy.
