Brown Packing Co. is a beef slaughtering and packing plant; The Company also offers feed blending services for livestock and several other types of animal food. Wastewater from this processing plant is sent to an anaerobic digester for treatment. The wastewater treatment plant was experiencing sludge problems and the Seaman 8130 XR-5 digester cover had reached the end of its useful life.
Brown Packing wanted to improve the performance of the anaerobic digester in their wastewater treatment plan and decided to replace the worn out cover with a new insulated cover system fabricated from Seaman XR-5 material. Brown Packing also added a lagoon baffle to help with retention time for their wastewater treatment. The sludge was removed from the digester after the existing cover was removed and a new multi layer insulated Seaman XR-5 cover was installed.
Environmental Fabrics, Inc. of Gaston, SC was chosen for the fabrication and installation of the insulated cover system. Since being placed in operation, the insulated cover system has functioned as designed and with minimal maintenance.
